The vision of the Master Plan for the Financial District of Kuala Lumpur is to create an iconic district of international standing and a new vibrant, green public space for the residents and employees as well as for the people of the city.
The site for the Signature Tower Kuala Lumpur (KLIFD) is embedded in the middle of this development. The main view axis and pedestrian access will lead to the 380 m tall tower, which is the landmark of the whole complex and the most significant new figure in the Skyline of the City.
Proposal and Program
The main concept for the tower is to create a recognizable, elegant and unique appearance through the shape of the tower that is generated out of and relates to climate, economy of structure and material considerations as well as program and view.
The design of the Signature Tower has the shape of a tapered cone. The silhouette is elegant in its appearance and unique through its shimmering and iridescent colored façade.
Two smooth cut-ins are orientated to the west and east, forming the main entrances at the exterior and green atrium spaces in the interior that provide not only a pleasant environment for the employees and visitors, but most importantly form the basis of the tower’s energy concept. The cut- ins also reduce the solar exposure of the façade and decrease the tower’s swaying, making weights at the tower’s top obsolete.
