The idea behind this design is to set an urban foyer in the form of a generously glazed winter garden in front of the new House of Music in the forecourt of the State Theater, which also includes the Leopold Fountain and the black oak that must be protected.

This foyer is a public area; it is considered a new space for cultural communication and a representative and vibrant cultural area for all institutions. The foyer is closed in the winter and open in the summer so that the entire forecourt of the State Theater can be used as the lobby for both theaters. The fountain and black oak contribute to a pleasant microclimate inside the foyer, which contains a dining area and café. The foyer’s shape with its three peaks suggests the Nordkette Mountains. Solar panels that also provide shade are mounted on the glass panels in the south.
